Artist Enclave Historic Kenwood
Historic Kenwood, one of the oldest neighborhoods in St. Petersburg, is distinguished by its unique bungalows and Craftsman-style homes, some dating from the early 1900’s. Because of Historic Kenwood’s high concentration of artists of all types, the City Council sought to promote the arts and artists by declaring the neighborhood an “Artist Enclave”. This status enables artists of the neighborhood to teach classes and sell artwork from their homes.
The Board of Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association recognizes the pain, grief, frustration, and difficult issues surrounding the death of George Floyd. We stand with our neighbors to support those who suffer at the hands of bigots and racists who wield power. We also support the efforts of our elected officials in the City of St Petersburg who recognize the needs of our citizens: to be protected and served by those who have taken an oath to do so. We are not a perfect city, but we believe by listening carefully and working actively, we, together, can act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly to overcome the problems facing us and our community. In this we are united and HKNA stands with the Black community.

Artists at Work Tour!
It is not often visitors can watch an artist paint a masterpiece, form a bit of fine jewelry or shape a lovely vessel from a lump of clay. But those creations, and more, happen every day in the home studios of members of the artist enclave. Artists have been painting, snipping, cropping, twisting, shaping, sewing, firing, writing, and beautifying in preparation for the hundreds of guests we greet each year during the annual March tour. Due to social distancing, we will see you in March 2021.
