The Waterfront Arts District, Central Arts District, EDGE District, Grand Central District, and the Warehouse Arts District become one arts destination for the St. Petersburg Second Saturday ArtWalk.
Join us as 40 artists’ studios and galleries open their doors on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 5-9 p.m. It’s a wonderful time to see old friends and make new ones as you enjoy our vibrant arts community.
Explore St. Petersburg’s five exciting arts districts. Open the door to one of the 40 galleries or studios you’ve never visited before, or try our free trolleys and a whole new neighborhood.
It’s impossible to take in the entire ArtWalk in one night! If you don’t wish to ride of the trolley, free parking can be found on 1st Ave N and 1st Ave S from 15th St. to 30th St., The Clay Center of St. Petersburg, MGA Studios and the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum.

On-Going: ArtBeat & Accessible Audio Mural Tour
Defining Your Goal – Developing Your Brand:
Monday evening classes beginning June 4, 2018, 6p.m.
St. Petersburg Arts Alliance will present a six-week program of professional development training sessions, providing artists and personnel of arts organizations the skills and confidence to meet business challenges. Monday evening classes will begin June 4 at The Greenhouse, 440 2nd Ave North.
Registration for the series is $100. Classes begin at 6 p.m. Free parking is available in the City parking lot across the street.
Classes will be taught by area arts professionals and business leaders. The arts entrepreneurship program will also provide networking support and mentorship opportunities, connecting emerging artists with seasoned professionals in each artistic genre.
June 4, Session 1 – Defining Your Goal – Developing Your Brand
- Who are you as an artist, administrator, performer, and as a businessperson?
- If you make this choice, how will it serve you three months from now? One year from now?
- What is your brand or your non-profit’s brand — your promise to deliver on your business image?
- Develop marketing overview, positioning statement, elevator speech, tag line, and key messages
- Develop your Artist’s Statement and Bio. or your organization’s mission

June 11, Session 2 – Financial Tips for Your Small Business
- Banking responsibilities
- Intro to financial responsibilities; QuickBooks and other options
- How can managing your finances help your business?
- What are some common practices, rules and tools to help you manage your business finances?
- How can these tools help you start and grow your business?
June 18, Session 3 – Social Media
- Attract more collectors, gallery dealers, and museum curators through marketing your art.
- Blasting out to everyone is not targeting your sales market.
- Harness the power of social media sites! Learn how to effectively use Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and other sites to promote your work.
- Traditional and new marketing methods with specific examples of creative and unusual ways to market.
- How to identify your target customer, build your collector base, shape your message, plan a marketing calendar, get publicity, and design effective email marketing campaigns.
June 25, Session 4 – Raising Funds – Grant Writing 101 How Development Works, Research, Grant Writing
- Research grant opportunities for non-profits & individuals
- How to approach funders
- Writing goals, objective, outcomes and a program narrative
- Planning program evaluations for outcome narratives
- Writing Letters of Inquiry (LOI), proposals and applications
July 9, Session 5 – Simple steps to protect your creative expression and the consequences for failure to do so
- Protect your intellectual property: Intellectual property clearance, licensing, prosecution and enforcement, including: trademark and copyright registration, website development, enforcing copyright and trademark rights through litigation and administrative proceedings, filing and responding to internet domain name dispute complaints.
July 16, Session 6 – Advertising, Sales, Marketing, Media
- Communicate with your customers and increase sales through low-cost, effective communication. Facebook does not equal sales
- Relationship selling, storytelling, visuals, signage
- Turn your business card into a relationship.
- Writing and distributing media releases, images, media pitches, and media list.
- Pricing for Profit: Incorrectly pricing your work can bankrupt your business.

St. Petersburg ACCESSIBLE AUDIO MURAL TOUR – available now!
The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance (SPAA) is proud to announce the St. Petersburg Accessible Audio Mural Tour program to make our city’s mural art accessible to all regardless of ability or disability. Our unique virtual Mural Tour may also be viewed anywhere around the world via the internet, with a computer or hand-held device.
The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance believes our city’s murals should be accessible to all. We chose 40 centrally located works to focus on, spotlighting the Shine St. Petersburg Mural Festival, several special murals, plus two murals commissioned by AARP Tampa Bay. Following a recent tour of this year’s Shine murals, Congress Charlie Crist states, “The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance is putting our community on the map through Shine, highlighting our city as a world-class arts destination and hub of creativity. With this partnership with AARP, an amazing display of local and international talent will be accessible for all to enjoy via a self-guided virtual tour for those miles away or with mobility restrictions. Proud that my hometown of St. Petersburg continues to promote innovation and inclusion.”
The Accessible Mural Tour program is produced by SPAA with initial funding from AARP Tampa Bay. “As a national champion for livable communities, AARP is proud to support the St. Petersburg Accessible Mural Tour which allows anyone, regardless of age, ability or locale, to experience our city’s vibrant arts community,” states Michelle Cyr, AARP Florida Associate State Director for Outreach.
The audio portion of our tour provides vivid descriptions of each mural, the artist and its setting. The online guide includes transcriptions of the audio recordings, photos and a map, with notes on accessible parking and mobility barriers. Jennifer Sabo, Executive Director, VSA Florida writes, “This project is likely to serve as a model for other mural programs around the country.
To our knowledge, no other organization in the United States offers mural tours designed for the needs of those with visual, hearingor physical disabilities. VSA Florida has been honored to assist the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance as they develop this much-needed resource and fully supports the Arts Alliance’s leadership in providing access to public art in St. Petersburg with this innovative and creative program.” These written and recorded tours are NOW available to everyone – on a home computer, smart phone or any other mobile device. The brochure may also be downloaded at the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance website:
